Cyclone VG Drops to 2nd in Europe After Finishing 4th in Week 3

After standing at the top of the European standings halfway into the split, our Vainglory team is in the sights of the whole region. Unfortunately, they got us this week! We were able to make it to the 3rd place match after beating Denial Esports in the first round. Carbon Six got the 2-0 sweep over us in semis, while SK Gaming finished the job 2-1 to secure third place this week. We now stand at second place behind G2 by two points, 17 to 15. We have one week to regain our ground, but for right now let's get into this week’s sets!

 

Game 1:

CycloneGG composition: Red-ABTION on Adagio, a support mage that can heal and buff his allies. WalDeMar on Ringo, a sniper equipped with a pistol that has high attack speed. Radha on Samuel, a dark mage with a lot of AoE control.

Denial Esports composition: ImTheDoom on Kestrel, an archer hero that has stealth capabilities. Bashn on Fortress, a protector who can spawn a pack of wolves. ArtemisGrace on Vox, a mobile sniper whose basic attacks bounce off enemies.

First blood: Denial picks off WalDeMar in the jungle. 

Highlight play: CycloneGG secures the Kraken and an ace to put the win in sight. 

Result: CycloneGG win, 15-7 in kills, 24,311-21,172 in gold. 

MVP: Radha’s Samuel, 8/3/7 KDA, 56 minion kills, and 7,716 gold.

 

Game 2:

CycloneGG composition: WalDeMar on Ringo, a sniper equipped with a pistol that has high attack speed. Radha on Koshka, a jungler catlady with multiple leaps and a movement speed boost. Red-ABTION on Catherine, a protector with a silencing cone ultimate and basic attack stun.

Denial Esports composition: ImTheDoom on Kestrel, an archer hero that has stealth capabilities. Bashn on Ardan, a jungler that is good at soaking up damage. ArtemisGrace on Baron,a sniper using the power of a rocket launcher and a jetpack.

First blood: The sides exchange kills just after the 1 minute mark. 

Highlight play: WalDeMar picks up the double kill and sets up the final push. 

Result: CycloneGG win, 20-11 in kills, 24,534-27,428 in gold.

Carbon Six composition: HellsDevil on Adagio, a support mage that can heal and buff his allies. AgOny on Fortress, a protector who can spawn a pack of wolves. Loere on Ringo, a sniper equipped with a pistol that has high attack speed.

First blood: Carbon Six comes out swinging with a double kill in the enemy jungle. 

Highlight play: Carbon Six win the trade 3 to 1 and look to end the game.

CycloneGG composition: PTLam on Vox, a mobile sniper whose basic attacks bounce off enemies. Radha on Samuel, a dark mage with a lot of AoE control. Red-ABTION on Lance, a jungler with a unique polearm-shield arsenal.

Carbon Six composition: AgOny on Glaive, a catlike axe-wielding jungler. HellsDevil on Fortress, a protector who can spawn a pack of wolves. Loere on Kestrel, an archer hero that has stealth capabilities.

First blood: Red-ABTION gets taken out in his own jungle in the first minute of the match. 

Highlight play: Carbon Six is able to sneak past their opponents while they’re distracted by the Kraken. 

Result: Carbon Six win, 8-1 in kills, 27,039-19,665 in gold.

Game 2:

CycloneGG composition: PTLam on Glaive, a catlike axe-wielding jungler. WalDeMar on Kestrel, an archer hero that has stealth capabilities. Radha on Alpha, a robot jungler with a self-destruct ultimate.

SK Gaming composition: Raph on Lance, a jungler with a unique polearm-shield arsenal. Jetpacks on Catherine, a protector with a silencing cone ultimate and basic attack stun.

KValafar on Celeste, a mage who uses the stars to kill her enemies.

First blood: CycloneGG picks up first blood on SK’s Raph.

Highlight play: It took a long chase, but SK Gaming got the ace. 

Result: CycloneGG win, 15-11 in kills, 28,753-22,452 in gold. 

MVP: Radha’s Alpha, 7/4/8 KDA, 70 minion kills, and 8,138 gold.

 

Game 3:

CycloneGG composition: PTLam on Lance, a jungler with a unique polearm-shield arsenal. Radha on Petal, who that plants seeds that grow into “munions”. WalDeMar on Kestrel, an archer hero that has stealth capabilities.

SK Gaming composition: Jetpacks on Fortress, a protector who can spawn a pack of wolves. Tyruzz on Samuel, a dark mage with a lot of AoE control. KValafar on Rona, an assassin with multiple movement abilities.

First blood: CycloneGG get two and SK Gaming only one to start the bloodshed. 

Highlight play: SK Gaming get the ace and look to destroy the enemy base. 

Result: SK Gaming win, 19-12 in kills, 25,886-20,987 in gold. 

MVP: KValafar’s Rona, 10/4/9 KDA, 153 minion kills, and 11,342 gold.
